Practice Concentration & Experience
John Arnott's current practice is concentrated on patent preparation, prosecution and related matters including patentability studies and liability assessment. In addition, he heads the Trademark Practice, and participates in litigation support relating to patent, trademark, e-commerce and copyright matters.
Special areas of experience: commercial electronics, industrial measurement devices, construction equipment, automotive systems, commercial printing, business methods and e-commerce.
Other Professional Experience
Prior to beginning his legal practice, Mr. Arnott was employed for a number of years as an engineer in the fields of military systems evaluation, oil and gas exploration, pipeline engineering and gas treating and processing.
Education
Mr. Arnott was graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988 with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and received his law degree cum laude from Southern Methodist University Law School in 1994 where he was an Associate Managing Editor for the S.M.U. Law Review.

Mr. Arnott is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
